Six Sentence Sunday, Jan. 27th

Welcome to the final Six Sentence Sunday. Hopefully the tradition is not totally behind us, and we’ll find some way to keep hanging out together, at least informally. Without further ado, here’s my final excerpt from my new sexy romantic comedy from Entangled, Melting the Millionaire’s Heart. Kayla, our heroine, is telling our hero about the humiliating news she’s just heard. Her ex-boyfriend, a coworker at the special-needs school where she teaches, has just married his new girlfriend Eve, also a coworker there:

“Six months after he broke up with me, and after he kept telling me he didn’t see marriage in his future! And did I tell you that he broke up with me at the school, during the Fitness Fun-a-Thon fundraising event we worked at?” Her face grew reflective. “I was handing out
bottled water when he asked me to go behind the hydration station so he could talk to me privately. The whole time, Eve kept staring at us from the finish line of the three-legged race. She knew I was getting dumped before I did.”

About Linda Morris

Linda Morris is a multipublished writer of contemporary and historical romance. She writes stories with heart and heat, and a joke or two thrown in. When she's not writing, working, or mommying, she's doing yoga, reading, working in her flower garden, or baking delicious things she probably shouldn't eat. A beat-up old copy of Kathleen Woodiwiss's "Ashes in the Wind" that her mom bought for her at a garage sale years ago was her "gateway drug" into the world of romance novels. Her all-time favorite romance writers include Laura Kinsale, Patricia Gaffney, Elizabeth Delancey, and Marjorie Ferrell. Current favorites include Julie Anne Long, Erin McCarthy, and Shannon McKenna.

  1. Ouch. That must have been painful. Love this six!

  2. K.E. Saxon says:

That is so uncool. The only consolation is, if he’d do it to her, he’d do it to Eve. Great tension, love the insight into the character, and what her Achilles heel is. I’ve enjoyed reading your snippets on the SSS meme, Linda. Thanks for the friendship and the loyal support, and here’s wishing you all the best in 2013!!

  3. Such a painful memory for her, especially the visual of Eve watching. Hope you continue to post!

  4. Yep, that’s humiliating, allright!

  5. Kate Warren says:

Oh, that jerk! I hope she dumped a bottle of water right on his head when he did that!

  6. LOL — this is awesome — I love the last line!

  7. Oh, that’s brutal! I’m sure much better things are ahead for her, though. *grin*
